Today’s podcast discussed two practices that have been gaining attention for the potential health benefits: forest bathing and grounding. Forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku in Japanese, involves immersing oneself in nature with the help of sight, touch, smell, and sound. It is associated with lowered cortisol levels, improved mood, and a boost to the immune system. Grounding, meanwhile, involves making direct contact with the earth’s surface and is associated with reduced inflammation, improved sleep, stress reduction and increased NK cell activity.
