General Information & Updates
- Summer is rolling by quickly with a lot of good things happening, and more events are coming up, including school and football seasons right around the corner.
- Texas Tree Cycle is highlighted as a sponsor. They deliver landscaping materials such as top soil, field dirt, gravel, limestone, and railroad ties. They are described as a great local Victoria couple doing good work at a good price.
- The hosts emphasize making the best out of whatever is happening and enjoying the good things going on.
- Chris Doelle will be attending coaching school starting with setup on Saturday and running officially from Sunday through Tuesday in San Antonio. This event is described as the largest coaching convention in the world, held at the San Antonio Convention Center, with an expected 27,000 attendees. Chris will be there for all four days, setting up a special room to interview coaches and record podcasts for the Texas High School Coach Association. He is excited to talk sports for four straight days.
- The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent is preparing for September, which is Hunger Action Heroes Month. They are organizing a Hunger Hero Challenge where teams can compete and win prizes, with a kickoff luncheon scheduled for August 18th. Both hosts acknowledge the great work the Food Bank does.
- The Victoria Public Library is noted for being busy and having ongoing activities all summer long.
- The Generals baseball team is back in action. They are playing well, having won the first half of their season and securing at least one home playoff game with home-field advantage for two out of three games in the first round. They were in the final game the year before last and won the championship last year, and are currently on course to reach the finals again. There are only about three to five regular season games left before the playoffs, which might consist of two to three games.
