Welcome to This Week in Victoria! Each week, Brother Gary Moses and Chris Doelle sit down and go over all the happenings in the Crossroads.

Here’s a breakdown by day:

  • Thursday: There was an event at the Museum of the Coastal Bend for Texas Independence Day, including a book festival from 11:00 to 5:30. Also, the Lions Club was having a meeting with great speakers.
  • Friday:
    • Friday, Inspire, Renew, and Excel (FIRE) meeting at 11:30 a.m. discussing the death of the cell phone and how AI will impact it, along with a speaker on improving memory.     • The Victoria Bach Festival was holding a fundraiser, “50 Years of Bach, the Golden Gayla,” at Spring Creek Event Center from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m..
    • The VFW Fish Fry was taking place, offering a good plate of fish to support veterans.
    • The Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) was hosting their annual golf tournament at Club at Colony Creek with flights at 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.. The event included tailgating with fish, barbecue, and brisket.
  • Saturday:
    • Adopted Pet was holding an adoption event at Pet Supplies Plus from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m..
    • There was a music event at Dacasta Hall.
    • The Girls South Texas Softball Association was having their opening ceremonies at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex at 8:00 a.m..
    • Crossroads Community Action was hosting a paper airplane contest at the Faith Family gym from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as a fundraiser.
    • The Victoria Ballet Theater was presenting “Viva La France” at 2:00 p.m. for the matinee and again at 7:30 p.m..
    • The Victoria Farmers Market was open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Patty Dodson Public Health Center.
  • Saturday and Sunday:
    • The Victoria Ballet Theater presents Viva La France. Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Sunday: There was a benefit at Rustic Ranch from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Melissa Vasquez to help with medical expenses, offering chicken and sausage plates.
  • Other mentions:
    • JE Ranch Services, specializing in land clearing and site preparation, is a new sponsor of the show. Contact Edward Moreno at 361-782-2792 or on Facebook for free estimates.
    • Goliad Market Days were happening downtown from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The Goliad County Fair and PRCA rodeo are the following week.
    • Spring break is coming up in Victoria, with colleges having it the following week.
    • North Hill County Kindred Pet Adoption Center will have a microchipping and vaccination week.
    • March Madness is approaching.
