Our guest in this episode of Top Texas Prospects is David (D-Rob) Robinson from Always Open. Robinson works with high school and middle school wide receivers to help them refine their skills. You can see a high number of Robinson’s wide receivers on a field near you on any Friday night. D-Rob works primarily in the DFW area but travels all over Texas to help groom today’s next generation of elite wide receivers.
Marc talks with Robinson about his playing days at Desoto High School in the DFW, how important his cousin former Desoto quarterback Casey Printers was in his development and his college playing days at the University of Oklahoma. Robinson explains how Always Open not only helps train young players but how he mentors his athletes on and off the field.
Marc talks with Robinson about some of the important aspects to developing wide receivers and how he starts with players when they are in middle school and develop thru high school and some go on to the collegiate and professional level.
Matt talks with David about a talented crop of young receivers in the C/O 2022 and 2023. David talks with Matt about his younger cousin Justin Medlock from Manvel HS in the Houston area who is a linebacker prospect and how he trained with Always Open to help him better his game as a defensive player. Matt talks with David about how he started training wide receivers at the age of twenty-five years old. David explains to Matt how he talks to parents about realistic goals for each student-athlete that comes out to train with Always Open. Matt asks David about several of his past wideouts that came to him very raw but eventually turned into a diamond in the rough.
