Pat Patterson – Laying the Foundation for Texas Swimming
Season 6 – Episode 1
Pat Patterson – a former Longhorn captain and later head coach – played a pivotal role in shaping the future of Texas Swimming. From being the first Longhorn to break 50 seconds in the 100 free to guiding the program through the 1970s, Patterson left a mark that went far beyond the pool deck. He was instrumental in the design of the Texas Swimming Center, ensuring the facility gave UT a competitive edge, and he laid the groundwork for the dynasty that would come under Eddie Reese. His vision, leadership, and loyalty to the University of Texas set the stage for decades of national championships and cemented his place in Longhorn history.
