Caliber Collision

Down Time Services

This episode of the Calallen Softball Coaches Show, hosted by Chris Doelle, featured an interview with Head Coach Teresa Lentz of the Calallen Wildcat softball team.

The episode began with thanking the title sponsor, Shocker Wildlife Resources, and other sponsors like Caliber Collision and Downtime Services.

Chris Doelle and Coach Lentz then discussed the team’s recent success, highlighting an impressive run in their last four games where they significantly outscored their opponents. Coach Lentz expressed her pride in the team’s hard work and discipline, especially during their busy spring break schedule that included two-a-day practices. She mentioned that the players were rewarded with a Saturday off for their dedication.

Coach Lentz highlighted several standout players from the past week’s games. During the four game stretch, the girls outscored opponents 40-2!

The conversation shifted to the upcoming district play. Coach Lentz noted that their district is now smaller due to realignment, losing Bishop and Alice but gaining Zapata, resulting in one fewer team. She mentioned that they haven’t faced Zapata in three or four years and anticipate good pitching from them. She also acknowledged that TM and Robstown are always tough competitors, emphasizing the need to approach every game with their best effort and play their game.

When asked about which district foe might surprise people, Coach Lentz stated that she tries not to underestimate any opponent. Her team’s mindset is focused on their own performance: working harder, being better, making routine plays, playing the game right, and being good teammates. She explained that their internal team mindset is one of confidence, believing that when they play their game correctly, “there’s nobody better than us”.

Finally, the show included an announcement for the 8th annual Suicide Awareness Walk, Walk for Colton, on March 22nd at Phil Danaher Stadium in Corpus Christi, to honor Colton Andrew Paige and raise funds for the Colton Andrew Page Memorial Scholarship Fund promoting mental health awareness. The episode concluded with Chris Doelle promoting the opportunity for coaches of other sports to have their own shows and provided his contact information.
