• Devin Michaels: Performing at Aerocrafters.
• One Body, Move Better and Be Lean (Exercise Class): Hosted by the Parks Department in the Special Events Area at 9:00 AM.
• Sombrero Fest (Young Girls Softball Tournament): Held at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex, starting at 8:00 AM (continues on Sunday).
• Game Day – Texas vs. Ohio State Football Game: The highly anticipated college football game between #1 ranked University of Texas and #3 ranked Ohio State will be televised at various restaurants. Notably, #1 ranked Texas is an underdog in this opening night game.
• Music on the Porch: At Victoria Art League from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, open for anyone to perform.

Sunday:

• Sombrero Fest (Young Girls Softball Tournament): Continues at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex, starting at 8:00 AM.

Next Week (Early September):

• Monday: Labor Day.
• Tuesday: The first day of classes for Texas A&M University Victoria (UHV). Classes officially begin on Tuesday, as Labor Day falls on Monday.
• Next Thursday: UHV will host Jag Fest, their big welcoming party. The new UHV Wellness Center is highlighted as a first-class facility.
• Tuesday Night – Salvation Army Love Beyond Dinner: At the Victoria College Emerging Technology Complex from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It includes a meet and greet, featuring Chris Harris as a motivational guest speaker.

General Information & Updates

• Summer is rolling by quickly with a lot of good things happening, and more events are coming up, including school and football seasons right around the corner.

Welcome to This Week in Victoria! Each week, Brother Gary Moses and Chris Doelle sit down and go over all the happenings in the Crossroads.

The weeks are rolling by fast, but there are plenty of events happening around town this week. Mother’s Day is approaching, and it’s a great time of year with school getting out, benefits, school programs, and graduations.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Wednesday

• VFW Hamburger Night is tonight from 5 to 8 o’clock. This is described as always a winner.
• KC’s Bingo is tonight at 7 o’clock at the KC Hall.

Thursday

• The Parade of Homes banquet will be at the Club Westerner at 6:30.

Friday

• The Parade of Homes officially starts today. It will also run this Saturday and Sunday, next Wednesday, and the following Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, giving you seven days to see the homes. The hosts love looking at the homes and getting ideas.
• Piers and Tutus is a golf tournament for the Victoria Ballet Theater at Colony Creek, starting at 9:00 AM.
• A Job Fair will be held at Faith Family Church from 9 to 3.
• Brother Gary will be doing the end-of-school tour, speaking to kids.
  • He will be speaking at Daly School at 8:30 in the morning.
  • After that, he will go to the S Dallas Mother’s Day event at 10 o’clock to judge a couple of things.
• The library always has their Pun Fridays.
• The Children’s Cover Museum is also mentioned as having good stuff.
• The Navy Museum is ending its latest exhibit today.
• Chris is heading to Waco for the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony weekend. He will be there Friday and Saturday. On Friday, he will be doing a press conference in the morning and interviews in the afternoon. A local boy, Brad Goeble from Cuero, who was a superstar quarterback, is one of the nine inductees this year.
• The Garden House Cafe and coffee special bar are having a blanket study event today. They will be open extra late, until 10:00 PM, for students studying for finals. This event continues Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

• The Parade of Homes continues today.
• Chris will be in Waco for the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony luncheon.
• It’s National Goodwill Week, and the local Goodwill locations are participating. There will be a spring cleaning event today from 10 to 6 on the Houston Highway where you can take all types of donations.
• The Garden House Cafe blanket study event continues today.
• The post office is doing a Stamping Out Hunger food drive today. You can put non-perishable items by your mailbox for them to pick up.
• CASA’s Mother’s Day Brunch is at the Power Avenue Warehouse from 10:30 to 2. Brother Gary will be emceeing this event and encourages taking mom or your wife.
• The Raisin Volunteer Fire Department is having their barbecue, auction, and raffle starting at 11 o’clock. Plates will be served until 2, and it’s for a good cause.
• The Spring Youth Art Show is this afternoon from 2 to 4. You can see art from talented young artists.
• The second annual FOMO Fest is at DeLeon Plaza. It features original bands playing their own music. It’s free of charge and runs from 2 to 8 PM, with vendors, food, and drink available.
• Mother Cluckers will have Mother’s Day activities with an outdoor get-together and vendors from 10 to 4.
• The Farmers Market is every Saturday.

Sunday

• The Parade of Homes continues today.
• The Garden House Cafe blanket study event continues today.
• An Atardiata music and dance event with Johnny Gonzalez and his band is at Z venue next to Mr. Gatti’s from 4 to 8 PM. This is a Mother’s Day event.
• The Friends of the Library book sale starts today at the Victoria Public Library. It goes all next week through Saturday. They have a ton of books, magazines, videos, and more at reduced prices.

Next Tuesday

• The Varsity Cup event will take place. Brad Goeble, who is being inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, is expected to be the guest speaker.

Ongoing/Throughout Next Week

• The Parade of Homes continues next Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
• The Friends of the Library book sale continues at the Victoria Public Library through next Saturday.
