Welcome to Episode 81 of The Marketing Drive with Chris Doelle.

You can now try out Live Streaming Video on Facebook in the status update. What do you do with that? Well, if you are an entertainer well that is easy…just entertain. For everyone else, just be real, be you, and show people what you do, talk about what you do LIVE.

This show is so named because I record it unscripted and unedited on my commute to work. When an idea pops in my head, I hit record. You get my off-the-cuff take on anything related to marketing your business. Be sure to send your show ideas and questions and I will use them for future shows!

Hey everybody, welcome back to the marketing drive. I’m Chris Doelle and this is the show where I use my commute time to talk about one actionable marketing idea or thought or just something that pops into my mind that can help you in your marketing struggles. This one is kinda new, it’s been around a little bit under the radar and that is Live Streaming Video on Facebook. Yes, Facebook. Initially, it was just a few key people that were given access to do this. As celebrities, computer nerds, people like that were given the ability to turn their Facebook stream or status update where you post “Hey,I’m going to Starbucks” or you take a picture and post it. Right there, you can choose Live and boom, on your smart device it will then access your camera, access your microphone and you’re live streaming on Facebook. I can’t stress enough what a big deal this is. Yes, there’s tons of live streaming apps out there, tons of ways for you to live communicate with people. There’s Google Hangouts, there’s YouTube, there is Periscope, the Meerkat, there are so many out there. But none of them has the reach, it’s a good combination of reach and focus at the same time that Facebook has. Because now if you’ve got a good following, one, that’s a good connection. They’ve been reading posts from you for years, and they know you, they like you, they trust you already. Now you can stream live to your people. Not just throw it out there in the world and hope that somebody sees it, but I tell you I think it’s a big deal. So what you’ll do with that, if you’re an entertainer, talk about easy, you just start to entertain. If you tell jokes, tell jokes, if you act, you can put on skits, you can do whatever. If you’re a musician, get after it right there and you have followers that’ll turn it on while they’re doing whatever else they’re doing. Since you’re listening to this, I assume you’re wondering how to use it for business. Again if you listened to anything that I’ve told you, it’s all about being real. Content marketing is about educating or entertaining 85-90% of the time, with a very a small portion saying “Hey, look at me here’s what I do for a living…if you need my services…now you know me, I’m the guy to call”. So what do you do, I’ve got clients who are in sports industries, they can put on like a talk show talking about sports, talk about the hot subjects that are going on, that are related to sports. And then if they sell with it or something, they can say ” Hey, this has been brought to you by my widget, go here to go get it”. They can do that as a sign off as a sign in, whatever. Let’s say you’re a plumber, if you’re a plumber maybe you just say “Hey, it’s time to talk about plumbing”. And you can have a whole list of subjects, each time you do one pick a different one off that list and say “Hey, I want to talk about plug out toilets…I want to talk about some home remedies that you can do so you don’t have to call the plumber”. And I know you’re thinking if you’re a plumber right now, you’re thinking” Wait, wait, wait, why do I want them not to call me?”. That’s not the point, the point is you’re telling them ways to avoid spending money with you. When they do need a plumber. of course, you’re gonna be the one they call because you’re not the one who went in there and started selling things to them. You started by educating or entertaining. Again, I tell you, I’m gonna say it over and over again. You’ll probably hear it a hundred times in the next 20 episodes here because it’s that important. So do it, get out there! Play around with it. If you want some ideas, contact me. You know I can be found, I’m all over the internet. FInd me, contact me, run some ideas by me, I’d love to hear whatever it is you’re doing and maybe share some ideas where I think you can tweak it or adjust it. I think it’s gonna be vague, I’m thinking right now what should I do for my shows. You know, get some many ideas, but again don’t have the time to do all of them. So I think it’s gonna be amazing, it’s gonna be quite a big thing and look for more and more of these live shows. I wanna thank you again for listening to the Marketing Drive.
